The Team of NEU School of Science Has Made Important Research Progress in the Field of Electrode Materials for Sodium Ion Batteries

Recently, Professor Wang Shulan's team from NEU School of Science has made important progress in the research field of anode materials for sodium ion batteries (SIBs). The team proposed a general preparation strategy of Mott-Schottky heterojunction sodium storage material loaded with high work function metal quantum dots for the first time, and explored the mechanism of action of enhancing the interface electric field of Schottky heterojunction by copper quantum dots deeply, which provided a novel research approach for improving the sodium ion storage capacity of transition metal carbides and was of great significance for developing advanced energy storage devices. The achievement Quantum Dot Heterostructure with Directional Charge TransferChannels for High Sodium Storage has been published online in the international top material journal Energy Storage Materials, 39, 2021, 278-286) (Yang Song, Ph.D. student of NEU School of Science, as the first author of this paper). The Analysis and Testing Center of NEU provided important support for the data collection and characterization of this paper.

This work is based on solving the frontier problems in the field of energy, and the theoretical innovation achievements obtained provide a new design concept for electrode materials of sodium ion batteries, which is of great significance to the commercial development of advanced energy storage/conversion materials.
